The Goleta Union School District has revamped their preschools this year. Three inclusion programs serve neurotypical and neurodivergent students aged 3 through TK at Ellwood, Hollister, and La Patera schools. GEF provided approximately 60 books to each classroom this fall. Book sets were selected to accompany the preschool curriculum and to be foundational in creating opportunities for learning and skill development.

“By having high quality books that include a wide array of children, including culture, race, ability, etc, we hope to ensure that our Inclusion Preschools are beautiful and well appointed. We want to demonstrate visibly for our families that their children are seen and belong in our GUSD schools,” says Abby Vasquez, Director of Pupil Services.

The District hopes that these inclusion programs will lay a foundation for students entering TK and Kindergarten and that they can expand these classes in the coming years.
