Goleta Lemon Run

Runners and walkers start the Goleta Education Foundation’s Lemon Run on Sunday at Goleta Beach Park.

The Goleta Education Foundation (GEF) would like to thank our community for making the 2017 Lemon Run our most successful ever. We had over 100 more participants than last year, with the winners taking home fantastic prizes like season passes for UCSB Men’s and Women’s Soccer games, free paddle board rentals, admission to MOXI, and of course lemon pies and wrist bands for the Goleta Lemon Festival.

Kids enjoyed making flags at the art table, having their faces painted, and powering the blender bike to make smoothies. To top it all off, everyone enjoyed delicious fare provided by Anna’s Bakery and Wahoo’s Fish Tacos.

Once the races were run, GEF had the pleasure of presenting the Goleta Union School District with a $44,000 check for developing a comprehensive kindergarten readiness program for GUSD schools that serve children and families in predominantly low-income neighborhoods. This exciting moment was made possible thanks to our generous supporters and their trust in GEF as an advocate for educational excellence in all our schools.

We also extend our thanks to our wonderful volunteers whose invaluable support allowed this event to come together as a celebration of Goleta community spirit. We’ll see you next year at the Lemon Run.
