In honor of teacher appreciation, GEF wants to recognize all the teachers who continually go above and beyond for their students and show their dedication to learning every day. GUSD’s teacher of the year, Krista Beard was described by superintendent Diana Roybal as embodying, “what it means to live a great story. Because of her dedicated service and unwavering belief in the promise of all of her students; she is influencing change to last a lifetime”.

Outstanding teachers like Krista Beard are all throughout GUSD and help our students prosper and grow into not only outstanding students but people as well. We want to celebrate those teachers that are taking the extra steps in their classroom through our Innovation Grants

2019 grant recipient Lara Jacobs discussed that the innovation grant, “has helped me to slow down and think about what I am teaching my students, what I am modeling for my students, and what is being modeled at home and on the playground. It has helped me to take time to teach kindness”.

We want to extend a huge thank you to our teachers that continue to foster the young minds of our generation and who are invaluable to the school system and our lives as a whole. Make sure you celebrate the teachers in your life and reflect on the impact that they have and continue to make on our lives.
